The Annual General Meeting is coming up and all members are welcome to attend. Nominations for the Committee of Management have closed and there is no need for a ballot. The club also has a number of Sub-Committees and working groups. If you have any interest in knowing more about any of these (Tournament; Finance; Library & Membership sub-Committees; Gardening Gang; Hospitality Group; the Bar) then please seek out a current or future Committee member to find out more.
CAR PARK ACCESS
You can put off getting that four-wheel drive vehicle as the entrance road to the West Australian Bridge Club should be paved and open by 11 October if all goes to plan.

WABC Mixed Pairs Championship
Two Friday afternoons, 10 & 17 October, 1:15pm. Enter on the WABC website. There is normal duplicate on as well.

Tuesday 21 October. Play bridge at 1:15pm. The AGM starts at 4:30pm. Nominations for the Committee of Management have closed and there is no need for a ballot.
WABC Open & Restricted Teams Championships
Saturday 25 October, two sessions, 9:30am & 1:15pm. Enter on the WABC website. There is a normal duplicate session in the afternoon as well.
Melbourne Cup
Tuesday 4 November. The Club will be open at 10am. There will be sweeps and a prize for the best hat. Just turn up and enjoy the day.
Jackpots
Start Saturday 8 November alongside normal duplicate. Have you qualified? Check the lists which will be up shortly. Please enter on the club website.
WABC Christmas Congress
From Friday 28 November to Sunday 30 November. A choice of one or two session events. Enter on myABF or pick up a paper entry form at the club or see Martin or one of the directors. There is a normal duplicate session on Friday morning only.
WABC Teams of Three
Sunday 7 December. A very popular event for those with less than 150 Masterpoints. Enter as a Team of Three and get a Master as the fourth player. Two sessions, 9:30am & 1:15pm.

Tuesday 9 December. Play bridge at 1:15pm. The Prizes and Party start at 4:30pm.

The Swiss Pairs Championship: was won by Chris Ingham & Vinod Nasta from Marion Bogue & Kate Nadebaum.
The Evening Pairs Championship: was won by Gwyneira Brahma & Stella Steer from Linda Coli & Mimi Packer.
The WABC & Nedlands Men’s Pairs: a combined event with one week at Nedlands and a second week at WABC. The best Nedlands pair was Chris Cullen & Matt Kruk who came first overall and the best WABC pair was Daniel Wallwork & Avon Wilsmore who came second overall.

Beginners Part 2 – Starts Monday 20 October with a choice of morning or evening classes. Run by Jodie Basham. Suitable for those who have completed Part 1.
Card Play – Two weeks, Thursday mornings, November 6 & 13 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am; $15 per session. Run by Martin Doran & Jane Henderson. More fun focusing on declarer play in suit contracts. Aimed at those who have finished the second beginner’s course, or a previous Rookies course, or anyone who wants to start taking more tricks as declarer.
