2025 DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

Congratulations to everyone who played in the Congress and well done to the winners.

These events rely heavily on the generous support of our members to be the success that they are. Thank you to everyone who brought plates of food in for the afternoon teas and the everyone who helped in the kitchen and behind the bar. Thanks also to Martin and David for the smooth running of the event. Forty six tables on Saturday afternoon certainly kept everyone busy.

As we continue to strengthen our Club and plan for the year ahead we are seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to contribute their skills and experience by joining one of our sub committees or working groups. These groups play a vital role in supporting the Committee of Management and ensuring the club delivers the best experience possible for all members.

I look forward to seeing as many members as possible on Tuesday 9 December for our annual prize giving and Christmas Party. I wish all our members, family and friends all the joy and happiness for the festive season. Stay safe and stay Happy.

Please note that the club is holding a clothing drive the week of the Party 6th -13 December, please deliver any clothes to the library. We will also take donations that will fill Christmas hampers for those less fortunate than we are.

Warm regards and Happy Christmas
Veronica Ntoumenopoulos
WABC President

Sadly, several members or past members have passed away during the past month:

John Taylor passed away mid November. John usually played on Tuesday & Friday afternoons and last played at the WABC in August.

Louise Macfie passed away on Tuesday 11 November after a fall during her walk the previous morning. Louise had played the previous Friday morning. Her son Rory noted that Louise enjoyed playing bridge at WABC and was always happy to let him know when she and her partner had done well.

Lynne Errington passed away early November. As South Perth Bridge Club reported, Lynne was an English teacher at a private school for many years. Her home club has been Undercroft for several years but she was active at WABC from 2013 through to 2021 and was a Grand Master.
