2026 SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
A very busy month at WABC with Will Jenner-O’Shea running four workshops for players, one for teachers, and a session reviewing the Club’s teaching programme. BAWA held the Joan Prince Swan River Swiss Pairs late in the month. There were lessons for Beginners and for Rookies. Some Club members travelled a lot to play bridge in Coffs Harbour (NSW) and then in Darwin (NT) just ten days later.

HOSPICE LANDSCAPING & PARKING
The Hospice is nearing completion, and the parking is back to normal. Landscaping works between the Hospice and the Bridge Club will start in September and some car bays in the north-west part of the car park will be reserved to provide access for this work.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This year’s Annual General Meeting of the West Australian Bridge Club will take place at 4.30pm Tuesday 20 October 2026 at the WABC clubrooms, 7 Odern Crescent Swanbourne.
If you are interested in standing for the Committee of Management then the positions open for nomination are PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, TREASURER, and 7 non-Office Bearer (Committee) positions.
If you want to know more about any of these positions, then please ask a current or former committee member, the current incumbent, or the Executive Officer. You will also find that the Club Constitution and other Governance documents list the various responsibilities of the different positions.
Nomination forms are available at the Club and online. The official notice of meeting is attached.
Nominations received will be posted on the Club Noticeboard and on the Club Website as soon as practical.
Both the Secretary and the Treasurer are stepping down after three years in these positions. There has been some interest in the Secretary position but no potential candidates for becoming the Treasurer.
The Club also has several sub-Committees (Tournament; Finance; Membership; and Library) that may be of interest for those wanting to be more involved at the Club. There is also a Gardening Gang & the Bar.
