Monthly Summary: December 2022

December is always a busy month at WABC. On the first weekend of the month we held the Christmas Congress. There were three days of strong competition in many events. The Club called upon members to bring along food for the competitors, and as we have come to expect the spread was fabulous. Thank-you all of the wonderful volunteers who donated their time and effort and to the members who welcomed guests ensuring that all the competitors enjoyed their time at the club. Thank-you also to the Tournament Committee and supporting people who put together a great long weekend of competition. Congratulations to the winners and all the competitors.

On Tuesday 13 December the Club held the annual Prize giving followed by the Christmas Party. The day began with a power blackout which was luckily resolved just prior to the start of play. After the afternoon’s play Sheenagh was MC for the prize giving. She kept us entertained throughout. Congratulations to all the prize winners.

During the prize giving, the pleasant aroma of food cooking in large paella pans wafted in. Immediately after the ceremony we were served drinks, delicious paella followed by desserts brought in by volunteers. A jolly time was had by all.

The only playing day the Club was closed in December was Christmas Day, this year falling on a Sunday - so no one missed out on their regular sessions even during the festive season.
