Dee Sinton (Past President)

Bio

Dee SINTON

Dee Sinton has been a stalwart at the Club for many years and has always found the time to help out with Club activities. She is is now our Vice President and Secretary. (President 2019-2020)

Dee is a true blue Western Suburbs girl, having been born in Subiaco and attending Subiaco Primary School. She went on to finish her education by attending Perth Girls High School and then City Commercial College where she completed commercial subjects, including bookkeeping in which she won the prize for the year. Dee’s greatest interests at school were maths and English. She never wasted her time with sports, preferring ballroom dancing, and that sinful pastime of the dance floor, jive . The Embassy and Canterbury Court saw her often.

Having graduated from the College she worked for a time in a Perth real estate firm. Marriage followed, and then work was interrupted for a time by the arrival of two children. Eventually she was able to return to work, continuing in the property area working firstly for a property developer and then as secretary to the manager of the land division of the Hooker Corporation. While working at Hooker Corp she studied for the Real Estate Agents Settlement Licence and after achieving that qualification she supervised the Corporations conveyancing team. Eventually real estate lost its interest and she moved to the medical area, first working as a medical secretary and then for many years as the Practice Manager for a well known general surgeon. When retirement beckoned, she continued in the medical area working in the Palliative Care Unit at Hollywood Hospital as a volunteer, and assisting at the Aged Persons Support group now known as Shine.

Retirement also gave her the opportunity to pursue a long standing ambition – to play bridge. And as we know, once we get started on the best game in the world we get hooked. And so we see Dee at the tables. And all her management experience made her very able to help our club.

Dee and her husband are also “travelaholics” and have travelled the world over the years, a lot of the time guided by the Lonely Planet book and at times by the skin of their teeth. Dee’s spare time is taken up with crosswords, reading avidly and entertaining and dining with likeminded friends.

Nowadays they have difficulty in finding new places to visit, so next time you are playing against her, ask her where she has been recently. You will be bound to get an interesting answer.
